Barack Obama: Change We Need?

The Ideology of 'Change'

January 20th, 2009. Two million people gathered in front of the Capitol in Washington D.C erupt in shouts and cheers as Barack Hussein Obama is sworn in as the 44th president of the United States. As the $150-million inauguration draws to a close their enthusiasm and energy indicate the widespread joy and satisfaction of a hope restored, a victory won. But has it? What kind of change is really coming to America? Let's take a look.

I find it very fascinating that the whole campaign for presidency of Mr. Obama was based on a single word, 'Change'. Whether it was the slogan 'Change We Can Believe In' or 'Change We Need', the word and the idea of change was vigorously publicized and repeated to the eyes of the viewers and listeners throughout the course of Obama's campaign. I believe that is very similar to what was done earlier in this decade with the word 'terror' and 'terrorism' shortly after the tragedy of 9/11. A flood of statements from government officials and articles emphasizing the importance and danger of terrorists and the terrorist threat were surged through the mass media to the people of the United States. As a result of the continuous exposure to them, the population was essentially brain-washed into believing exactly what they were being told! That we must take all necessary steps and measures to protect ourselves from terrorists and terrorism as a whole. Thus, when the Patriot Act and many other laws were passed, which resulted in the restricting and taking away of our liberties, nobody ended up speaking out against it.

It is interesting that a similar thing took place during President Obama's campaign. Looking back to it we can see that as the months progressed, and as the people listened to speeches, read the articles, and watched the advertisements of the Obama campaign, a spirit of change overtook the nation. From being indifferent to said theme at first, the whole nation was now believing exactly what they were told, 'Change We Need'. And through the non-stop exposure to the propaganda they automatically associated one man with the idea of change: Mr. Barack Obama.

In addition, the assumption on the part of the supporters of Barack Obama that the change he was promising would be in favor of the people was very odd. In fact, throughout the candidacy the whole idea for the promised change remained very vague and unexplained. Yes, Obama did promise that economy would be rebuilt and schools and healthcare systems reformed, but never was there any definite plan laid out as to what exactly the change would entail and how it would be accomplished. I find that very odd considering all the hype and support that this theme was getting.

"I am the change, the change comes from me."
- Barack Obama, Nov. 27, 2008.

You see, we need to understand that change is not good in and of itself. Normally when we hear the word 'change' we do not automatically think 'good' or 'bad'. Whatever this change does, or rather the effect of this particular change is what determines what kind of change it really is. That's what makes it either a good change or a bad change. A vague concept of change, as promoted during Obama's campaign, simply means "I'll take anything other than what I have now." At point value, that's not necessarily good is it? Satan himself loves the idea of change that is not definite nor conclusive. Continual change without conclusiveness will lead a person to uncertainty. And this is where Satan gets really tricky because uncertainty is essentially a lack of faith. Without faith we cannot be saved.

We find that in the days of ancient Israel the chosen ones of God had a problem with the same exact issue, change. Instead of following God-given precepts and statutes, Israel turned over to pagan rituals and traditions of men. Instead of God-given Judges, who brought out the glory of the Jehovah, they actually demanded of God Kings in order to show their own glory and special favor with God to other nations. As a result of this much wanted change, they fell into apostasy, captivity, and slavery. This is what the prophet Jeremiah had to say, "Has a nation changed its gods, which are not gods? But my people have changed their glory for what does not profit. Be astonished, O heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid; be very desolate, says the Lord. For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." Jeremiah 2:11-13. And as with many stories in the Bible, this was to be an example to future generations, including ours.

One aspect of the promised change has already been taking place and it is perhaps one of the most hair-raising issues that many have noticed over the months, and it deals with the growing exaltation and near-worship behavior towards Obama. It all started with the charisma and the style of delivery during his speeches. The clear, confident tone of voice, great emphasis on important points, the vigor, and energy have all contributed to the nearly hypnotizing effect that Barrack Obama's speeches have had on his listeners. Thousands have been seen crying when seeing Obama with their own eyes. Thousands have spent cold, long nights camping out on the street just to get a first-row spot in the audience for one of his rallies. During Barack Obama's speech following the win of the presidential election on November 4th, the crowd in front of the platform on which Obama was speaking, was found to have an entranced expression on their faces, glassy-eyed and all. Many have commented and said that it looked as if a hypnotism had just taken place. And on January 20th two million people gathered in front of the Capitol for the inauguration of now-president Barack Obama; an audience of magnitude normally worthy of a Papal visit, in which the Pope is worshipped as Jesus Christ on earth. If that's not hair-raising enough, just before the then-president-elect came onto the platform, all two million people gathered in front began chanting 'Obama! Obama! Obama!'. The eerie sound of this kind of worship actually gave me chills when I was watching it.

As his primary self-destructive principle, which according to Isaiah 14 actually caused Satan's fall back in heaven, Satan infects as many as he can with the exaltation of self. Perhaps the glorification and adoration that Mr. Obama has received might have had an impact on his own self as well. In an interview on November 27th, 2008, Barack Obama was asked a point-blank question concerning his vision for change and just what kind of change will it be exactly. Mr. Obama replied, "I am the change, the change comes from me." If Satan can get us to fall in love with the idea of self-exaltation then the victory is his and we are open for him to work in us and control us as he pleases. Maybe this is why so many are just completely captivated by this man, the way he speaks, and the things he promises.

Furthermore, during the campaign the Obama headquarters in Lake City, FL had a large sign out front which read, "To God be the glory, great things He has done." And the line below it, in just as large letters, read, "Obama - Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done." As a devout believer I am not happy when a simple man attempts to exalt himself and take the place of God. I see here the same principle of self-exaltation which leads to eternal death. Recently, even many respected Rabbis from the Jewish community have officially called Barack the 'modern Messiah'. Now, I find it fascinating that the name 'Obama' in the Persian language means 'He Is With Us.'

Barack ObamaAs you can see on the right, many people and even magazines, such as Rolling Stone, have also called Barack Obama our 'New Hope'. To me that is very saddening because it reveals to me the degree of apostasy and departure from God that this country is in. "He[Jesus] indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God." 1 Peter 1:20,21. The Second Coming of our Savior is to be our blessed hope. He is to be our hope! That is a principle on which this nation was founded on, one which you can still see on the back of your dollar bill! But perhaps another change that is coming is that this phrase 'In God We Trust' will also take on new meaning, seeing how an entire nation is putting trust in a man, rather than in the Living God. Instead of looking to Prince Immanuel as their hope, their hope is in a mortal man.

Now, please add all these points together and really think about this. Given what we have seen so far with the uncertainty concerning the kind of change that is being promised, and given the hypnotic adoration and worship given to this simple man, could it be that the majority of the people are actually being deceived about the things that they are being promised as gospel truth? As we see in Revelation 13, deceived people have a tendency to follow deceptive leaders and powers, and eventually they end up worshipping them.

This, of course, is not to say that President Barack Obama and his presidency is the anti-christ or the first beast of Revelation 13 because he is not. The Word of God gives us specific characteristics to each of these(which we will not discuss in this article) and they all clearly do not fit Barack Obama nor his presidency. This is also not to say that we should rebel or go against our government when it's not forcing us to act in opposition to God's precepts. We as believers, understand that according to Romans 13:1 we should all "be subject to the higher powers'" because it is God who "changes time and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings." (Daniel 2:21) and allows people to be put in power as he sees fit in order to fulfill his great purpose. But my Bible also tells me that when someone is being glorified and exalted in such a manner as we see here, especially when they are in a high public position, then it is not of God and an alert should go up in my mind so that I can be aware and watchful of what is taking place.

Q: So what exactly can we expect in the near future seeing how America has voted for change blindly, not knowing what kind of change they are going to get?

A: Exactly what they voted for, Change.

My Bible tells me that you cannot vote for good change. Before good change can come there has to be repentance in the heart, whether it's the heart of a nation or a single soul.

I strongly believe that the change that is being talked about was largely explained in President Obama's inauguration speech. Watch carefuly:

  1. "That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age."

  2. "And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age."

  3. "For the world has changed, and we must change with it."

Time and time again Mr. Obama used the phrases 'New Era' and 'New Age' during his address. The past three presidents have also talked about the same concept but under different wording. George Bush Sr. is most widely known for his public talk of it, and he called it a 'New World Order.' The two are one and the same. There are no differences.

Looking at the three main points I listed as well as the rest of the speech, several times Mr. Obama emphasized the fact that we are about to enter a New Age and that the change that is to happen will be in accordance with this New Age. He spoke of the current state of the economy and country being in crisis, as a result of us, as a nation, not taking the hard step to enter this New Age. It implies the idea that unless we support and prepare our country for the New World Order we will stay in a state of crisis until we make the difficult decision do so.

In addition he spoke of transforming the schools and colleges to meet the criteria of the New World Order. Why is that relevant? It's relevant because once this system goes into effect in our country, everything a child or youth learns or reads in school will be presented so as to make him a loyal citizen of the unified global community. This is already implemented, more or less, in many European countries such as Great Britain where all children as young as 3 are required, by law, to attend school with no chance of private schooling on the part of the parents.

Barrack Obama states that the world has changed and that we must adapt. What happened 8 years ago when the world was changed through catastrophes and the fear of international terrorism? Our loving country changed. It changed in the form of us losing many of our precious liberties through the means of the Patriot Act and many similar laws. Let me ask you again, what happened to ancient Israel when they departed from God-given precepts and began to adapt to the evil of the countries around them? They fell into slavery and captivity. I already stated that the experiences of the Israelites are a lesson for us to learn in today's world. This time we perhaps may not be submitted to literal and physical slavery, but once we depart from God and accept worldly principles we will become a slave to the one world system that Barrack Obama is encouraging all Americans to join.

In other words, what he really said during his speech was 'The changes that will now take place will take us into a New World Order.'

Brothers and sisters, prophecy has told us of these events since the times of Daniel. Let us prepare our souls and be ready. Let us watch and be alert for the events soon to take place. Let us sound the trumpet from atop the mountain peaks! Change is coming soon, and with it the last great conflict. The return of the King of Kings is eminent. Soon, all will have to make their final choice concerning their eternal destiny. Let us pray that God may give us strength, courage, and faith to stand for Him in these final days.

"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."
2 Timothy 4:2-5

May God richly bless you all!
